We are continuing our weekly prayer & fasting focus on places in Europe where no known use of Disciple Making Movement principles are taking place. We are believing that our Lord will respond to our fasting and prayers by opening these doors. This week, our focus is on Montenegro.
.
After centuries of occupation and ethnic division, Montenegro gained its independence from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 2006. This makes it one of the youngest countries in the world. The government that was established is a parliamentary democracy and has several political parties.
.
Though there is much uncertainty and social unrest with surrounding Slavic nations, Montenegro is politically stable and there is much optimism among those who call it home. Due to its stable political environment and beautiful coastline, Montenegro has one of Europe’s fastest growing tourism industries. However, at least of quarter of the tourists come from Russia and so the war between Russian and Ukraine will likely have a significant impact.
.
Deep divisions still remain between different religious sectors creating challenges to share Jesus, yet Evangelicals appear to be increasing in number. Even so, the Evangelical population is estimated at only 0.3%. Several areas of the country are thought to be totally unevangelized.
.
To date, the Lord has not yet supplied a person of peace that would enable Biglife or any of our partnering organizations to provide disciple making movement training within this place. Please join us in praying for the Lord’s provision of this person(s). hubs.ly/Q01b17Y40
The prayer and fasting theme for May is Prayer.
.
What comes to mind when you hear the word prayer? Joy? Guilt? Blessing? Obligation?
Opportunity? Boring? Excitement? Pointless? Power? Time waster? Refreshing? There is a good possibility that the first thing that comes to mind is also how we view prayer.
.
Our consistency in prayer, or the lack thereof, is likely linked to the reason why we pray in the first place. If the primary reason why we pray is motivated by anything other than our love and desire to spend time with our Creator, then it becomes very easy to have an inconsistent prayer life.
.
Cultivation is not an easy task, it takes time, determination, and hard work. Paul pleaded with the Christians in Rome to “strive together with me in your prayers” (Romans 15:30). The word for strive is agonizomai, where we get the word “agonize”. This word originally described the struggle of a wrestler in an athletic contest. Prayer is hard, yet rewarding work!
.
If you are not faithfully taking advantage of one day a month alone with the Lord and if you are not taking advantage of praying each week with your small prayer group or in the large prayer group once a month, make a commitment to do so. It will be a great blessing to you, to your family at Biglife and most importantly, to the Lord. View our global prayer map at hubs.la/Q019JRvx0
We have asked for prayer in the past for trainings that took place in the country of Denmark. Last week, our team member traveled back to Denmark and reports that it was a very productive time of coaching those who are being obedient. Praise the Lord that 3 groups have started and through their time some of the concepts "clicked". They showed eagerness to press on towards multiplying disciples of Jesus! Ask yourself:
.
How many apple seeds are in an apple? Now, how many potential apples are in one of those apple seeds? If we look at this through the lens of disciple-making, we ask, how many potential disciples are in this room because of you? Consider this next time you are thinking about the impact of your ministry!
